Woktron opens new datacenter presence in North Carolina, USA
Woktron, a leading European provider of web hosting services, today announced the expansion of its global presence with a new datacenter in North Carolina, USA. This new datacenter location, created to meet the growing demands of the region’s rapidly growing technology and information sector, marks Woktron’s first in the region.
Lenoir, North Carolina is becoming a popular east-coast hub with Google also having a datacenter in town. Lenoir has its roots as a factory town in the furniture industry. Since furniture mills used a lot of power, much of the existing power infrastructure was already in place.
The state of North Carolina and in particular the area north of Charlotte continues to transform into the latest hotspot for Silicon Valley’s tech giants, with Facebook and Apple also having their East Coast datacenters nearby. Walt Disney has a facility in the region, facilitating their soon to be available streaming service, Disney Plus.
CentriLogic, our datacenter partner in Lenoir, North Carolina is thus located in one of the Eastern USA’s safest and most secure data center clusters. From this facility, we are able to deliver our full suite of secure, stable and scalable solutions.
Our first datacenter location in Roubaix, Northern France has been serving our clients extremely well this past decade. However, our strategy to constantly enhance our service has urged us to expand our datacenter presence.
Each new location we add allows us to deliver better performance and localized service to a certain group of our clients. It allows our clients to place their sites in a geographical location that is closest to the site’s visitors, guaranteeing the lowest latency, as well as blazing fast load times.
Reliability and security
To ensure that customer data is always safe and sound, our North Carolina datacenter employs redundant power supply via UPS (N+2) and by backup generator, a climate controlled environment, using a combination of Liebert CRAH (Computer Room Air Handler) units using chilled water from a central water plant, as well as a unique air-side economizer that was built and designed inhouse. The air-side economizer allows for operation at PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) values of less than 1.2 when the conditions outside are appropriate.
